A number of books on the history of Olinda exist, but they are mainly limited to specific periods of history. The publication of this book, written by noted Brazilian historians, seeks to provide a complete history from the earliest days of the native Brazilian Indians to the declaration of the site as a UNESCO World Heritage Township in 1986.
The book is now complete in draft, some 300 pages, comprehensively and beautifully illustrated and scheduled for publication in 2009.
