Dan Dimancescu, Nobrega Board Member, purchased a mid-1800s log-beam peasant house slated for demolition by its owners, the Gabacea Family of Bran/Simon. Dismantled and moved from the valley bottom to a hill-top, it was reconstructed in 2008.
What was a small two room house became a four bedroom lodge with private bathrooms adjunct to the "Inn on Balaban", itself a larger peasant-style house modeled on a house located in the ASTRA Museum (Sibiu). Local crafstmen were employed to hand cut replacement timber and woodwork, and to make and place the shingled roof.
The contractor on the project was Biturn, Sft. Gheorghe. The firm has restored more than 100 church structures in Transylvania.
